Short Coverage Wedding at Bishops’ House, Sheffield

There’s a particular charm about getting married at a venue that is over 500 years old. On this particular bright and sunny day, the sun shone beautifully through the Tudor-style windows with the diamond patterns casting shadows on the ground in the background.

This wedding was beautifully intimate, with family from both sides present to witness and affirm R & A on their new adventure together. This was a short coverage wedding to document the things that mattered most to this couple: the ceremony, the exchanging of rings, the presence of family joined together, and their daughter at the heart of it all.

Why Bishops’ House Makes a Lovely Wedding Venue

Bishops’ House is one of the most unique (and often underrated) wedding venues in Sheffield. It’s a great option for smaller, more intimate celebrations. Tucked at the top of Meersbrook Park, in the heart of Norton Lees, this beautifully preserved Tudor building is one of three of this style in Sheffield. The other two are a pub and Broom Hall (which, let’s be honest..does not compare even close to the splendour of Bishops’ House).

Ceremonies at Bishops’ House take place in a beautiful, 16th-century oak panelled hall, a room filled with so much character and charm. It holds up to 30 guests, including the couple. It’s a venue built perfectly for the smaller, intimate ceremonies that tend to be a staple for short coverage wedding photography.

The Three Little Bridesmaids

For this particular wedding party, the bride was preceded by her three little bridesmaids, the couple’s daughter and her two cousins. All three needed a wee bit of help down the aisle as they all seemed to have just awoken from their nap times to grace everyone with their presence. It provided just the right amount of joyful, slightly chaotic energy that weddings with kids are beautifully known for.

Once the ceremony began, the couples daughter made her way to nan’s lap to watch her parents exchange their vows. The rest of the ceremony followed a classic structure: exchange of vows and rings, the feeling of love and support from everyone gathered, and the quiet emotional moments.

Confetti & Canapés at the top of Meersbrook Park

After the ceremony, guests lined up outside of Bishops’ House to throw confetti.

Whenever anyone asks me where to buy confetti, or what confetti that I recommend, I always say Flutter Darlings. Their confetti is biodegradable and photographs so beautifully. They come in a huge range of colours, suited to whatever themed wedding you’re having.

I was so so glad when R & A told me they purchased Flutter Darlings confetti for their wedding.

Once the confetti toss was finished, we gathered guests for groups shots and released them to enjoy the canapés and drinks whilst R & A snuck off with their daughter and me to take some family and couples portraits at the top of Meersbrook Park.

This part of Meersbrook Park boasts of one of the best views of Sheffield, it’s so gorgeous up there!

And with it being a lovely sunny day, we had such clear views of the city as our backdrop.

Short Coverage, Fully Covered with Photo and Video

This wedding was documented as a short coverage package, with only 2 hours booked. It’s a perfect example of what can be captured: all the important moments from the ceremony, the confetti, group shots, couples portraits, and candid moments. Not every wedding needs a full day of documentation and I love offering the option to couples to book how many hours they need by building their own packages. Just like this celebration captured at Weston Park.

This couple also had a wedding video alongside the photography, giving them both a gallery of stills and a short piece of film to relive the day and the moments that mattered most to them.
