Fruit Picking in Chichester

Cherry Picking in Chichester

With my grandfather-in-law turning the ripe age of 88 in May, he decided he is not quite spritely enough to climb up the cherry tree any more. Together with my husband and sister-in-law, Pip, we drove down to Chichester to pick cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants, and a few redcurrants. The day was overcast and a bit chilly, not too ideal for spending outdoors. However, we carried on in good humor and high spirits.

After a couple of hours, we finished picking the cherry tree, which yielded a grand total of 32 pounds! Minus, of course, the ones we ate while picking…A good haul!

Our “hard” work in the garden was rewarded with a deliciously cooked lunch by my grandmother-in-law. A quick nap on the sofa promptly followed the devouring of said food. We enjoyed a nice afternoon down in Chichester and look forward to many cherry inspired dishes this month.
